Enable discussions
Review Settings → Discussion, the Nabd comments settings and the discussion status on each article. An article with closed comments cannot accept a new reply.
Follow the conversation
Replies are grouped under their root conversation. Longer threads show a compact preview with controls to reveal more replies. A direct comment link opens the relevant reply context.
Who receives a notification?
- The article author can receive a notification for an approved comment.
- A registered reader can receive a notification when someone replies to their comment.
- Replies from the article author also notify the registered parent-comment author.
- Users do not receive a notification for their own action.
Moderated comments trigger notifications after approval. These are in-site notifications for new activity; anonymous visitors do not have an account inbox, and old comments are not automatically backfilled.
If a different comment box appears
A third-party comment plugin may replace WordPress’s comment output. Check its configuration and license separately. Compare behavior on a test site before disabling a plugin on a live publication.
