Enable reader accounts
- Go to Settings → General.
- Under Membership, enable Anyone can register.
- Set the default new-user role to Subscriber.
- Save and check the site as a visitor.
The Create account link appears when WordPress registration is enabled. Nabd’s front-end registration creates Subscriber accounts, even if a different global role is configured. Other registration plugins follow their own settings.
A reader’s profile
Readers can edit their display name, public username, biography, avatar and cover. The public username is separate from their email address. A reader account does not automatically receive publishing permission.
Following writers
Following a publisher helps a reader find their stories in the Following feed. This is designed around a publication and its writers.
Editorial permissions
Only grant publishing roles to trusted writers. Review Nabd’s publisher and editorial settings before allowing front-end publishing. Test with a Subscriber account to verify the reader experience.
